Baalbek: The city of Baal (By Chris not Alex) opps!

"This city is one of the seven wonders of the world, or at least it should have been..." -our extremly confused tour guide

Baalbek, what an amazing city. This ancient place was once the home of the Phoenicians. Known for it's temple dedicated to Baal (hence Baalbek) this place offers some crazy history. Baal who later became the Greek Dionysis and then the Roman Bacchus (the god of wine)has been discussed since Biblical times and recently in movies such as Eyes Wide Shut. This temple housed massive fertility ceremonies, festivities, and human sacrifices. The place still has some sort of mystical life to it. Bands are known to play in the ruins as well, one of the more recent was Massive Attack.

She tied the heads of her victims as ornaments on her back,their hands she tied upon her belt...When she was satisfied she washed her hands in streams of blood before turning again to other things."
